1. Who is responsible for managing my information?

("we" or "us")

This is our Privacy Notice and it explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data in relation to the Website, the “Drop The Tap Tax Campaign” (Campaign) and the petition supporting the Campaign (Petition) .

We are responsible for the collection and proper management of any personal information you share with us. We will keep your personal details secure and use the information you provide consistently with applicable privacy and data protection laws and the terms of this Privacy Notice.

2. What information do we collect?

We will collect details that you provide when you access the Website or support the Campaign, in particular by signing the Petition.

The personal information we hold is likely to include your first name, last name and email address and whether you opted in to receive updates on the Campaign from us.

We also collect website usage information in relation to the Website and do this using “cookies” and other technologies to  facilitate use of the Website. The following are examples of information we may collect with these technologies:

  • information about your device browser and operating system;
  • IP address;
  • web pages you view;
  • links you click and/or
  • information about the way you use the application.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies to provide security and core website features, including session and form-protection cookies. We also use local storage to remember your cookie preference, so that the cookie notice does not appear on every visit. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Essential cookies cannot be switched off because the website may not function correctly without them.

We will not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions (other then your general support of the aims of the Campaign), trade union membership, information about your health, and genetic and biometric data). Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.

3. How do we use your information?

The information you provide may be used in connection with the Campaign and the Petition in a number of ways, for example:

  • to enable us to administer, publicise and support the Petition;
  • to enable us to conduct and manage the Campaign;
  • to enable us to administer the Website
  • to personalise repeat visits to the Website;
  • to manage and respond to queries you may have;
  • to update you on the Campaign when you have opted in to receive such updates;
  • to protect against or identify data security issues;

4. On what legal basis will we process your information?

We will always process your personal information on lawful grounds and in particular on one or more of the grounds set out below:-

Performance of a Contract

We have made certain commitments to you in relation to the conduct of the Campaign and the Petition and you have have made certain commitments to us. These  are set out in the Terms and we may use your personal information to allow us to perform our obligations and enforce our rights under the Terms.

Legitimate Interest

Our conduct, organisation and support of the Campaign and the Petition is part of our legitimate interest in supporting and advancing the independent brewing industry.

Data privacy law allows us to use your personal information in relation to this provided that this does not override your own interests and fundamental rights .

Where we are using your personal data in accordance with our legitimate interests you can ask us to stop doing so at any time, including by contacting us as set out in this Notice. Where you do so we may still continue to use your personal information on other grounds, such as in accordance with our rights under the Terms.

Legal Rights

We may also make use of your personal data to the extent required to establish, exercise, protect or defend our legal rights, enforce our Terms  and to take legal advice.

Consent

We may ask your consent to provide you with updates in relation to the Campaign.

You can withdraw your consent to this at any time. Where you do so we may use your personal information on other grounds, such as to perform the Terms or to exercise our legitimate interests.

You may also expressly instruct us to pass your information to or share your information with a third party.

Legal Obligation, Law Enforcement and Compliance

We may also use and disclose your personal data for compliance purposes, as required by any legal, regulatory, law enforcement, judicial, professional or taxation authority and to the extent that we are required to do so by law, regulation or court order.

5. Who will you share my information with?

We may share your information with:

  • our service providers to perform our obligations our exercise our legitimate interests;
  • as set out in the Terms;
  • anyone who has legitimate access to or sight of the Petition.

Please note that personal information you disclose in relation to the Petition will be generally publically available.

We will not use your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

We may also use, share and disclose your personal data without your permission:-

(a)     in connection with any legal proceedings or claims or prospective legal proceedings or claims,

(b)    to legal, judicial, regulatory, law enforcement, public health, professional standards and taxation authorities,

(c)     to prevent/detect crime;  

(d)    to take legal advice; and

(e)      to establish, exercise, protect, enforce or defend our legal rights

6. How do you manage my information?

We may from time to time appoint other members of our group of companies, or third party service providers, to help us manage efficient systems within our organisation.

We will only transfer your information to service providers who help manage our systems, or overseas, where we are satisfied that this is lawful and that adequate levels of protection are in place to protect the integrity and security of any information being processed and in compliance with all applicable privacy laws.

If we transfer your personal data to service providers outside the United Kingdom then we will always use a lawful method to do so.

8. How long will we hold your information for?

We have a system of retention periods in place to ensure that your information is only stored whilst it is required for the relevant purposes or to meet legal requirements. Where your information is no longer required, we will ensure it is disposed of or deleted in a secure manner.

9. Your rights

You have the right to ask us at any time:-

  • to confirm whether we hold any of your personal data;
  • to send you a copy of any personal data that we hold about you;
  • to correct any inaccuracies in your personal data and to add relevant details where the personal data we hold is incomplete;
  • to delete (to the extent possible) any of your personal data, where we are required by law to do so;
  • to stop processing your personal data, where we are required by law to do so;
  • to let you have a portable copy of the personal data we hold about you, where we are required by law to do so;
  • to stop processing any of your personal data that we process on the basis of our legitimate interests; and
  • (where relevant) to stop sending you any marketing material. However please note that we may continue to send you service related (i.e. non-marketing) communications, such as email updates

If we ever reach a decision that affects you by processing your personal data automatically then you have the right to speak to someone to discuss that decision.

We do not use your personal data for the purpose of profiling.

Where we process your personal data on the basis that you have given us your consent to do so then you may contact us at any time to withdraw your consent

10. Does the notice apply to linked websites?

The Website may contain links to other websites. This privacy notice only applies to the Website so when you link to other websites you should read their own privacy policies.

11. Does this Privacy Notice apply to other interactions with SIBA ?

No. This Privacy Notice only applies to personal data relating to the Campaign and the Petition. If you share personal information with us for other purposes (for example because you are a SIBA member) then our standard Privacy Notice will apply.

13. How do we update this privacy notice?

We keep our privacy notice under regular review and we will place any updates on the Website.
